What We Keep in Our Truck

What We Keep in Our Truck

In Belize, stores aren’t all over the place and don’t operate 24/7, so more often than not, it’s good to “be prepared.” Here’s what’s in our truck:

Rope. It feels like we’re always going to get something that needs to be tied down. (Most of the time, you  have to tie it yourself as customer service is challenging.)

Heavy Duty Straps. Most of the time, you need more than just rope to secure furniture and items that you don’t want to get damaged during the journey back home.

Cooler. In this tropical environment, it makes carrying groceries or leftovers home without the concern for food safety issues.

A Gallon of Water and Re-Usable Water Bottle. Everyone should drink plenty of water. We don’t like buying all the plastic bottles, as we try to cut down on waste. Saves time running errands, but not having to pull into a store for some water. Most accommodations appreciate us bringing it with us too.

Machete. Cutting branches. For example, there is a traffic accident, have a flat tire, etc. and need to cut some branches to put out on the road to alert others. (In Belize, a pile of branches in the road is the same as traffic cone.) Comes in handy to clear an area so that it is passable (storms, etc.)

Mini Coffee Maker. One may be surprised how many accommodations do not have in room coffee service. Or have in room instant coffee. This way, mornings are smoother.

Sunscreen, Bug Repellent, Neosporin. Important to have for impromptu activities.

Mini Cutting Board & Rum. Also, for impromptu activities.
